1836 - 1947Boston Borough Police Inspector Lowe
A native of Alford, Lincolnshire, C W Lowe joined the Boston Borough Police Force as a Constable on 4 March, 1902. He had worked initially for the Great Northern Railway Company.
He was appointed acting Sergeant on 17 December, 1917 and promoted full Sergeant substantively on 3 May, 1918. He became station clerk. He was promoted Inspector on 28 April, 1923. During his connection with the Force, Inspector Lowe was frequently been commended by the Watch Committee, once on 29 January, 1925, for saving the life of a man who had fallen into the Dock; another occasion on 23 February, 1923, he was again commended for jumping into the Witham River and saving the life of a would-be suicide. Inspector Lowe retired from the Boston Borough Police 11 March, 1927. (Submitted by Rob Cain)
