Cheshire Constabulary

Est. 1857

For more than one hundred years the insignia of the Cheshire Constabulary incorporated the Prince of Wales' feathers, doing so without proper authority. The three feathers were part of the badges of the Cheshire Constabulary since the Force came into existence on 3rd February 1857. When originally incorporated in the police badge it was said they were "allusive to the title Earl of Chester, borne by the Prince of Wales". From the earliest tender for clothing for the Cheshire Constabulary in February of 1857, it was reflected the men were to be outfitted with

 

First Mobile Police Museum

The first mobile police museum was launched in May of 1984 by the Cheshire Constabulary at the Force Training Centre in Crewe. It was officially opened by Chief Constable David Graham.
