Sergeant Alexander Stewart and Constable Donald Fraser

The Isle of Harris is situated off the North-West coast of Scotland and was patrolled by the officers of the former Inverness-shire Constabulary. Two of the officers that served on the Island were Sergeant Alexander Stewart, who joined the force in 1920 and Constable Donald Fraser, who joined the force in 1914. The two below photographs were probably taken in 1927, when both officers purchased their own motor cycles. Both officers would have received an allowance/mileage for use of their own motorcycle for police purposes. Inverness-shire Constabulary became part of Northern Constabulary on 16th May, 1975.
