Formed in 1923 from seven smaller railway forces: Great Eastern, Great Central, Great Northern, Great North of Scotland, Hull & Barnsley, North British and North Eastern Railways, the London North Eastern Railway Police was one of the largest in the Country. With it's headquarters in York, it had eight Police Divisions, each of which was commanded by a Superintendent.
