1836 - 1969Captain Isaac Colquhoun, the Chief Constable of Swansea
Captain I. Colquhoun is a member of a junior branch of the Colquhouns of Luss. His family was one of those which were allotted land in the north of Ireland, known as the Ulster Plantation. He joined the Army in 1855, during the time the Crimean War was in progress.
He was appointed Ensign in the 17th (Leicestershire) Regiment, in which he served for 14 years, during the greater part of that time in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Canada. In 1869 he was appointed Superintendent of the Carmarthenshire Constabulary, in which he served until November, 1877, when he was appointed Chief Constable of Swansea.
Captain Isaac Colquhoun was the Chief Constable of Swansea from 1877 to 1913.
